How do I set up Google Voice?

Please note that this is managed through Google Voice and not the cellular carrier.

 

If you would like to forward your Twigby Mobile phone number to Google Voice and need to create a Google Voice account, please follow the steps below: 

  1. Download the "Google Voice" app from the Google Play Store (for Android) or App Store (for iPhone)
  2. Open the "Google Voice" app once the download is complete
  3. Sign into your Google account
  4. Review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and tap on "Continue" or "Accept"
  5. To pick your Google Voice number, choose "Search"
  6. Search by city or area code for a number. If numbers aren’t available, try a nearby city or area code
    • Google Voice doesn't offer 1-800 numbers
  7. Next to the number you want, tap "Select". Then follow the instructions provided
  8. After setting up Google Voice, you can link another phone number

 

If you already have a Google Voice account created and need to forward your Twigby Mobile phone number to set up your phone to receive calls, please follow the steps below: 

  1. Download the "Google Voice" app from the Google Play Store (for Android) or App Store (for iPhone)
  2. Open the "Google Voice" app once the download is complete
  3. Tap on the Menu in the top left corner (icon with three lines) 
  4. Tap "Settings"
  5. Under "Account", tap "Linked Numbers"
  6. Tap on "New Linked Number"
    • Please note that you can link up to six numbers
  7. Follow the instructions to add your number 

 

If you have a Google Voice account set up but need assistance with turning it on and off, please see the steps below.

To turn Google Voice on:  

  1. On your computer, open Google Voice
  2. Click on the Menu in the top left corner (icon with three lines)
  3. Click "Legacy Google Voice"
  4. Click on "Settings" at the top right > "Settings"
  5. Click the "Phones" tab
  6. Under your forwarding phone, click "Activate Google voicemail on this phone"
  7. Follow the instructions to turn on Google Voice

To turn Google Voice off: 

  1. On your computer, open Google Voice
  2. Click on the Menu in the top left corner (icon with three lines)
  3. Click "Legacy Google Voice"
  4. Click on "Settings" at the top right > "Settings"
  5. Click the "Phones" tab
  6. Under your forwarding phone, click "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone"
  7. Follow the instructions to turn off Google Voice
