Transferring your contacts is always one of the most important tasks when setting up your new phone. Luckily, there are several quick ways to transfer your contacts from your old phone to your new phone.
Bluetooth - Most phones will allow you to transfer your contacts via Bluetooth. When transferring with Bluetooth, you must first have one set to be discovered and the other needs to seek and find and then connect via Bluetooth. To find out more on connecting with Bluetooth, please refer to your phone owner's manual.
Google Sync - If both your old phone and new phone are smartphones, you can most likely use Google Sync. Google Sync can be found by visiting http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/. You will need to create a Gmail account in order to use Sync.
If you are transferring to a new smartphone with an Android operating system, it should already have Google Sync installed. Now, make sure you have your old phone set up and sync it to your Gmail. Your new Android should download it automatically and appear in your contacts or people listing after you finish your initial setup. You will find lots of information here to help you get started.
Apple iCloud - If you are already using a new iPhone and want to get all contacts from your old phone, you can do this with iCloud by following the steps below.
- Connect both your old iPhone and new iPhone to Wi-Fi
- Make sure you’re signed into the same Apple ID on both phones. You will do this by going to "Settings" and tapping on your name
- Then on both iPhones, tap on "iCloud"
- On both iPhones, turn on "Contacts" by tapping on the toggle next to it (on = green, off = grey)
- Wait until the message about merging contacts appears and tap "Merge"
